‘Paan Singh Tomar’ Sets Box Office On Fire

Director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ is going to be the first sleeper hit of this year. The movie was released last Friday without much publicity. No big stars on board, no super duper music or any controversy that could generate some buzz before release, even then it managed to draw crowd towards the theatres.  Director Tigmanshu believed that his movie had something more to offer to the audience than a routine commercial flick.

Marketing strategy of the movie was also quite low key as the film was not publicized like other releases of this year. Nothing could stop the movie from tingling cash registers at the boxoffice last weekend. Expressing surprise over its collections Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted,” Paan Singh Tomar collected Rs 4.25 cr nett in its opening weekend [on limited screens/shows]. Fri 85 lacs, Sat 1.4 cr, Sun 2 cr. Superb!(Sic)”

Certainly the movie has picked up through the word of mouth and Adarsh has highlighted this trend in his tweet,” PaanSinghTomar witnessed a spectacular increase in its opening weekend. Sat and Sun witnessed unimaginable growth in business.””

‘PST’ has received rave reviews from the film fraternity with biggies like Amitabh Bachchan, Shekhar Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap have showered lavish on the director for making a wonderful movie. Big B went to the extent of calling it first genuine biopic made by any Bollywood director. We hope Tigmanshu continues to delight cinegoers with his inimitable realistic style of film making.
