Movie Review:’Tezz’ (** Two Star)

We all know Director Priyadarshan has a penchant for comedy. He has given us superhit movies like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Hungama’, ‘Garam Masala’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’ but he also loves to make action films.

His latest offering ‘Tezz’ is  an action-packed, high octane thriller which keeps the viewers hooked till the end. The story of the movie revolves around  a bomb stricken high speed bullet train . It features some of the most breathtaking scenes shot in any Indian movie but do not compare it with any Hollywood movie.

Some of the scenes in the movie are inspired from the Hollywood blockbuster of 1990s ‘Speed’.In one scene Boman Irani saves a direct collision between the bomb stricken bullet train and another train coming from the opposite direction. When you watch this scene unfold on screen you are forced to compare it with ‘Speed’ but the treatment is very different in both the movies.

Actor Sameera Reddy  has also performed dare-devil stunts in the movie but at some point these stunts become routine and the plot becomes too predictable to guess.   Ajay Devgn in the lead role looks impressive but he finds it difficult to lift the film all alone.

Other actors which include  Mohan Lal, Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Zayed Khan look pretty ordinary in their roles in the movie. Only  Boman Irani and Avika Gor  have managed to leave some impact in the supporting cast.  The action scenes are brilliantly shot by the cinematographer and he deserves credit for his contribution to the movie.

‘Tezz’ could have been a better movie if the story and plot had more substance. In short it is just a onetime watch for someone who loves to watch thrilling moments on screen.
