Indian Movies To Create History At Cannes

65th Cannes Festival

This year 2012 is the best year for Indian cinema as four films will be participating lected at the 65th Cannes Film Festival organized in south France. This is for the first time ever four Indian films will be participating in different competitive categories.

First film is ‘Miss Lovely’ a movie directed by Ashim Ahluwalia. This movie is set in 1986 Mumbai which portrays the story of two brothers who make underground films (with titles such as Lady James Bond) for a small-town picture house.

Second movie to participate in Critics` Week at the Cannes is a Hindi movie named ‘Peddlers’. Directed by Vasan Bala this movie is about three characters who meet in Mumbai.

Third is renowned film maker Anurag Kashyap’s two part series named  ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ which is story of coal mafia spread in Dhanbad region of undivided Bihar.

And the fourth Indian movie participating at the Cannes this year is a classic movie ‘Kalpana’ which was made in 1948 by Uday Shankar. This Indian film is being restored by Hollywood’s living legend Martin Scorsese.
