With the upcoming release of the Disney+ on the 12th of November this year, we decided to look at the growing trend of bypassing traditional movie and video streaming methods. The OTT (Over-The-Top) apps have left behind the days of television and are even giving cinema halls a run for their money. From Netflix to Amazon, Hotstar, TVF and what not, there is a marked shift from tele to app streaming.

These applications are advertisement-free platforms of viewing motion pictures and series’ by viewer who have no time or patience for add-breaks.

They even allow the viewers to skip the introductions and introductory songs of their favourite shows. They are in sync with out fast and furious generation that consumes data from all sides, all at once.

In a world where justice and crimes are just a few tweets away, a revolution in entertainment was only logical. India is at par with the international revolution in the entertainment industry. The Indian streaming app- ALT BALAJI, has reached more than 20 million paid subscribers in the first of half of this year itself.

The app panders not only to the metropolitan viewership but also attracts a lot of small-city traffic too. They have managed to rank in the top grossers by keeping their prices low and serving good content to the average content consumer.

The biggest win for these apps that is unanimously being advocated by the youth today is their candid content generation.

These applications bypass the problem of censorship and stream unedited videos and movies. This appeals to people because these apps give the freedom to choose what they watch in their hands. Don’t forget to subscribe to Filmi Files on twitter for latest gossip going on in Tinsel Town.
