These Bollywood Actresses Gained Several Kilos For Their Roles

Many Bollywood actresses leave no stone unturned to get into the skin of their characters in an effort to do complete justice to their onscreen roles. They do extensive research to find out methods for gaining weight quickly. These actresses have successfully broken the notion “if you want to be successful in the film industry, you must lose weight” and without second thought put on kilos. It also made their role immensely popular and these actresses created a different league for them. Let us take a quick look at some the Bollywood heroine who gained weight for their roles:

Vidya Balan: Bollywood actress Vidya Balan gained weight for her highly popular film “The Dirty Picture”. The film turned out to be hugely successful commercially. Critics also praised the performance of Vidya in the film. The film also gave a massive boost to her career. According to reports, Vidya had put on 12 kilos for the film and to get into the skin of character. She played the role of yesteryear actress Silk Smitha in the film. The grace of Vidya Balan was visible throughout the film and nowhere had she looked uncomfortable despite looking so bulky.

Kangana Ranaut: Kangana Ranaut has come a long way in Bollywood and delivered several superhits over the years. The “Queen” actress has bagged four national awards. Kangana has reportedly gained a whopping 20 kilograms for her role in the film Thalaivi. Kangana is scheduled to play the role of late politician Jayalalitha in the yet to be released film. Earlier, the trailer of Thalaivi was released in March, 2021. Meanwhile, the release of the film has been delayed as a result of Covid-19 restrictions. Kangana had posted several images from the film revealing her major transformation for her fans.

Kriti Sanon: The name of leading actress Kriti Sanon also figures in the list of actresses who gained weight for their roles. Kriti Sanon underwent a major weight transformation for her character in her forthcoming film Mimi. She is playing the role of a surrogate mother in the film. A particular segment of Mimi required Kriti to gain more than 15 kgs so that she could look like a pregnant woman. Kriti revealed how mammoth was the task for her to gain such huge weight. She said she has been blessed with good metabolism and normally gorge on burger and pizza in life. Therefore, it turned out to be a huge challenge to gain so many kilos. She devoured oiliest possible breakfast, sugariest of sweets, and excessive food than normal to prepare for her role in the soon to be released film. She also revealed that she was asked to suspend her workouts during her weight gain journey and compelled to eat after every two hours.

Bhumi Pednekar: She has carved her own league in Bollywood in her small journey. Bhumi made her Bollywood debut with superhit romantic comedy “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” featuring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role. For her debut movie, Bhumi took the risk of gaining a massive 30 kg to play the role of an overweight bride. And, her risk paid off. The film became commercially hit and her performance was appreciated. Bhumi was 25 years old when she was working on her debut movie and her weight spiked from 66 kgs to 86 kgs. Bhumi revealed that being foodie it was not a difficult task for her to gain weight and she ate almost everything that included eating butter chicken for breakfast and 12-inch pizza for dinner. She confessed she felt as if she was in Disneyland for eight months when she was eating freely to prepare for her role. 

Priyanka Chopra: Priyanka Chopra also gained weight for her film Saat Khoon Maaf. The desi girl was supposed to look older for few portions in the film and was required to put on some kilos. Film director Vishal Bhardwaj reportedly asked Priyanka to gain a few kilos and she immediately agreed to it. She did complete justice to the role she played in the film and received accolades for her performance from all quarters. Meanwhile, for her role in “Mary Kom” Priyanka had to do the opposite and lost weight to look fit.
