Millennial Superstar who created the
‘Hrithik Mania’ amongst the media and his fans. He happens to be the only actor ever to win both the Filmfare Award for Best Debut and Best Actor for the same film in the same year, bringing a proud moment for his father Rakesh Roshan, who collected his first-ever Filmfare Award for this film.
Kaho Na Pyar Hai broke all Box Office records with its first day earning of Rs 30 crores and has a net worth of more than Rs 280 crores. The film won 92 awards, which were received in numerous ceremonies and categories for which it came into The Guinness Book of World Records in 2002 and was subsequently added to the Limca Book of Records in 2003 for the greatest number of awards won by a Bollywood film.
Directed by his father, actor-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan the film also happens to be the Bollywood debut of Ameesha Patel, who played Sonia in the film. Hrithik played a dual role portraying both Rohit who was Sonia’s poor boyfriend and his rich lookalike Raj and managed to bring both the personas very well on screen. There is a scene in the film Rohit when meets Sonia at a traffic signal, which was adopted from his real-life incident, while he met his ex-wife Sussanne Khan in the same manner. The story enfolds many emotive moments where Hrithik’s performance was well praised. The highlight of the film were the songs “Na Tum Jano Na Hum” and “Ek Pal Ka Jeena” both sung by Lucky Ali, which became huge hits both for their melody and Hrithik’s exotic dance moves, creating a vogue amongst the youngsters who became busy emulating him. Roshan junior lit the name of the Roshan legacy becoming an overnight sensation receiving tremendous applause from both the Indian and global audiences, as well as positive reviews from the media.
Koi Mil Gaya
This was Hritik Roshan’s second film after the romantic blockbuster Kaho Na Pyaar Hai post which the expectations from him had increased Manifold. His father Rakesh Roshan decided to portray him for Koi Mil Gaya in an altogether different avatar to give him a broader canvas to play with. Koi Mil Gaya is a Science Fiction Film based on the storyline of the Hollywood flick Extraterrestrial. The film features Hritik Roshan as Rohit, who’s a youth born with a mental disability. Hritik finds a and eventually communicate with the aliens. Hritik along with his mate Nisha incidentally discovers a hidden computer in his house which was devised by his father who was a scientist. While they were intrigued with its strange sounds and images t unknowingly transmitted messages to outer space. Thus, appears a spaceship that leaves an alien on Earth. Hritik with his friends finds the alien and befriends him. He names him ‘Jadoo’ and keeps him in the house secretly. Eventually,y police start searching Jadoo, but Hritik protects him from the police till he gets back to his spaceship. Legendary actor Rekhaji plays his mother who is compassionate towards him and understands his brilliance, although the world thinks he’s mentally challenged and is often ridicules and torments at every phase of his life, which he faces with his lone companion Nisha. Rendering the role of a Hero depicted as a mentally challenged youth was indeed a big risk, but Hritik carried it off with aplomb. His portrayal of a weakling was brilliant, while his dialogues and emotions were much liked and greeted with applause by the audience. The film remains popular amongst younger audiences.
Jodha Akbar
Jodha Akbar has been one of the most magnificent, opulent, and aesthetic depictions of the greatest Mughal Emperor Akbar which was rendered by Hritik Roshan with utmost dignity. His majestic royal stance of the Shahanshah complements beautifully with his power, strength, and wisdom. He carries the film on his broad shoulders throughout with his fight sequences along with brilliant emotions and dialogue delivery, which ranks as one of the best performances in his career span so far. The Queen Jodha was portrayed by Aishwarya Rai who’s an epitome of beauty, wisdom, and grace matching Hritik in performance. While Aishwarya looks ethereal, her dialogues although few, show her true prowess to emote with her extremely expressive eyes. The romance between the King and Queen is extremely subtle and enchanting, as their chemistry is flawless, while they sizzle every scene together.
The film is more or less a fictionalized version of Emperor Akhbar’s life, which focuses more on his relationship with his Hindu Rajput Queen Jodha, who takes time to accept this marriage which was carried as an alliance to strengthen Hindu Muslim unity in the Mughal period.
The film is a royal treat to the eyes with its grand sets, palaces, exquisite costumes, exotic Jewellery, grand war sequences, scenes of social gatherings, and beautiful melodies interviewed in every scene crafted by the sound magician A R Rehman. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker the film is one of the best periodic films of the last decade.
