Yummilicious: Bollywood’s Yummy Mummies!

By Deepti D.

We all remember the famous confrontation between Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan and how in the end Mr Kapoor wins by saying… “Mere paas Maa hain”… yup Mother … the supreme creation of God…but in today’s write up we are not going to talk about our typical Bhartiya naari Mums like Nirupama Roy or Reema Lagoo.. Who were always oiled, saree clad and donning a big red bindi ….Well people you guessed it right.. Today we are going to give a little sneak peek into our modern wives… our trendy bahus .. also known as the “Yummilicious mummies of Bollywood”

Malaika Arora

Lets see.. when we all close our eyes… who is the first mum who comes to our mind when we say “Yummy Mummy”…well I don’t know about you but the first name that comes to my mind is none other than “hamare pyare Sallu Miyan ki bhabhi… err.. ex bhabhi”…well well…Ms Malaika Arora “Khan”. This “chhhiya chhiya” beauty made us swoon when she was married and when she became a mum and came back on the silver screen.. boy o boy!.. did we all miss a heartbeat !! Currently besides doing item songs mostly in home productions, this mum of a teenage son Arhaan is right now judging India’s Got Talent Season 7.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra

Besides her long lovely locks, the other most eye catching thing about Mrs Kundra is her perfect “34-26-34” figure. This mother of 4 year old Viaan is seriously giving our young actresses run for their money. She credits the secret to her svelte figure to her genes… but we know the real reason and it’s her strict yoga regime which she religiously follows. Shilpa has been occupied currently in giving motivational lectures on health and yoga as she has recently written a book “The Great Indian Diet” which talks about eating healthy and staying fit.

Karisma Kapoor

“Poocho zara Poccho .. mujhe kya hua hai”.. remember this song… yes we exactly want to ask this yummy mummy this very question… how did she transform from this curly haired, bushy eyebrows gawky actress to this very slim, sophisticated , stylish mum and socialite of 11 year old Samaira and 6 year old Kiaan Raj. Well, credit goes to Karisma only for this utterly unbelievable wow change by following yoga and strict diet… err… no carbs.. no sweets..but somewhere down the line a small mention should be made to Manish Malhotra for styling her. Nowadays although she is not seen on silver screen, she is busy playing a socialite and a loving mother.

Mandira Bedi

Rememeber the TV serial ‘Shanti ”? How can we forget the strong female protagonist played by a beautiful, young Mandira Bedi with her trademark “arrow bindis”. Time flew and we saw a drastic transition of the salwar clad Mandira to a noodle strapped blouse and saree clad Mandira at Cricket Matches, interacting with national and international players flaunting her toned body…Phew.. what a transformation !! The fit and fabulous mother of 4 year old Vir attributes all this to her strict diet and hours at gym. Apart from being an anchor, she has turned designer and has launched her own label ‘Mandira designs” which showcases her designed sarees.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The “choti bahu” of the Bachchan khaandaan….. need I say more… the epitome of beauty, the perfect face…. Our own Miss World… well now Mrs Bachchan and mother to little cute Aradhya. Ash has always remained in media glare.. all thanks to her dresses at various international award functions…to her weight gain post baby and most recently her ‘purple lipstick”. But she shut all her critics and wowed us again in her oh so fit ! and svelte body…well she still hasn’t shared her fitness mantra but I guess running after her angel must be top on the list !! Currently Ash was seen in the movie “Sarabjit” and what a mind-blowing performance she gave!

This is just a small glimpse of our yummy mummies…. The list is endless and we shall share some more stories of being a fit momma… but one thing is very clear from this that 40’s is the new 20’s and these yummy mummies are giving some serious tips on fitness and maintaining ourselves…. Reality check women ??? !!!!
