South Megastar Rajinikanth will be honoured with the prestigious 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award. It is five days ahead of Tamil Nadu poll that the ModiGovernment announced the prominent Dadasaheb award to Megastar Rajinikanth on Thursday for his incrediblecontributions in Indian cinema as an actor, producer and screenwriter.
Announcing this news, Information & Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted, “Happy to announce DadasahebPhalke award for 2019 to one of the greatest actors in history of Indian cinema Rajnikant ji. His contribution as actor, producer and screenwriter has been iconic.”

The jury for this year’s prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award included legendary singer Asha Bhosle, filmmaker Subhash Ghai, south superstar Mohanlal, singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan and Biswajeet Chatterjee.
Congratulating Rajinikanth for his achievements, Prime Minister NarendraModi wrote,

South superstar Kamal Haasan also wished his best friend Rajinikanth for DadasahebPhalke award.
Sharing his happiness the actor wrote,
“It is with great pleasure that the highest award, the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, has been announced to Rajinikanth, the supreme star and my dearest friend. The award is 100% appropriate for Rajini, who has proved that he can win over fans by appearing on screen.”
Rajinikanth replied to the wishes by tweeting,”Immensely humbled and honoured with your greetings and the most prestigious #DadasahebPhalkeAward award respected and dearest Shri@narendramodi ji. My heartfelt thanks to you and the government of india,” Rajinikanth tweeted.

Talking about career, superstar Rajinikanth has contributed many blockbuster films. Debuting with K. Balachnder’s 1975 Tamil film ‘Apoorva’, Rajinikanth has given numerous blockbuster films like Padayappa, Baashha, Chandramukhi Ethiran andmany more.
Interestingly, the superstar has completed almost more than 45 years in Kollywood. His upcoming film Annaatthe is slated to release on Diwali2021 in cinema.
