Bastar, Chhattisgarh—In a story genuinely no one saw coming, a sneaky fraudster opened a bank account in the name of Bollywood star Sunny Leone and pocketed Rs. 1,000 every month under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, a government scheme meant for married women where they receive a sum of ₹ 1,000 into their accounts every month.
Bank employees were probably first confused, then of course completely stunned, to find an active account in the name of the film star. A quick investigation revealed the real beneficiary was not Sunny herself but Virendra Joshi, a man who clearly reached for stardom in all the wrong ways.
Bastar Collector Haris S responded to the fun scandal by saying, “We are looking into the matter,”.
As for the verification officers who approved “Mrs. Leone’s” account? They’re now under the scanner—probably wondering how they missed this.
