Bastar, Chhattisgarh—In a story genuinely no one saw coming, a sneaky fraudster opened a bank account in the name of Bollywood star Sunny Leone and pocketed Rs. 1,000 every month under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, a government scheme meant for married women where they receive a sum of  ₹ 1,000 into their accounts every month.
Bank employees were probably first confused, then of course completely stunned, to find an active account in the name of the film star. A quick investigation revealed the real beneficiary was not Sunny herself but Virendra Joshi, a man who clearly reached for stardom in all the wrong ways.
Bastar Collector Haris S responded to the fun scandal by saying, “We are looking into the matter,â€.
As for the verification officers who approved “Mrs. Leone’s†account? They’re now under the scanner—probably wondering how they missed this.
