Mumbai:(PTI) Debutant director Supavitra Babul says his soon-to-be-released film ‘Bittoo Boss’ does not bear any resemblance to the 2010 hit movie ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’. The promos of ‘Bittoo Boss’ reminds one of the Yash Raj film that revolved around weddings as the upcoming film is also woven around marriages.
Actor Ranveer Singh, who debuted with ‘Band Baaja Baarat’, made his character of a Delhi boy Bittoo lovable. Even Bollywood newcomer Pulkit Samrat plays a character named Bittoo in the upcoming film. However, comparisons don’t bother the debutant director.
“There are no similarities between ‘Bittoo Boss’ and ‘Band Baaja Baarat’. Our film is very grounded, organic and natural while, ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ had that typical Yash Raj Films look and feel. I am not perturbed by the comparisons,”
“Our story and characters are different. We have shown the point of view of videographers in our film, which has never featured in Hindi cinema. Also, in terms of the budget, ours is one-third of ‘Band Baaja Baarat’,” he said.
The first-time director says its due to the name of the character Bittoo and the rhythm of the film that everyone is comparing the two movies.
‘Bittoo Boss’ stars TV actor Pulkit Samrat of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ fame and Amita Pathak, producer Kumar Mangat’s daughter, who debuted with ‘Haal-E-Dil’.
