Television in India witnessed a remarkable change this week when we saw first ever onscreen ‘lip lock’ and ‘love making scene’ on the ‘idiot box’. India is known to be a conservative society where things like love; dating or love making are something not discussed openly. But the families were surprised to see these things on Monday night.
Bollywood’s soap opera queen Ekta Kapoor’s show, ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hai’ introduced the first ever lip lock which was embedded in a 17 minutes long love making scene. It was bound to send many Indian households in a tizzy. There were reports of Dada and Dadi’s squirming in the seat, parents looking for an excuse to escape from the TV room and certain youngsters who do not appreciate watching ‘such stuff’ with their family switched over to some other channel. In spite of these somewhat adverse reactions Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar set the social media on fire.
Soon after the episode was aired Sakshi Tanwar and Ram Kapoor started trending on Twitter with jokes on Ram becoming the butt of weighty issues. Sakshi basked in the glory of her new found sexuality . Ekta went laughing to the bank and prudes went into hibernation.
This episode will certainly go down in the history of Indian television as a milestone as it marks the beginning of a new chapter.
