Karwachauth and Bollywood connection

The most romantic festival celebrated by Hindus all around the world, Karwa Chauth is a day-long fast observed by married women for the good luck and long life of their husbands. The day is celebrated four days after purnima (a full moon) in the month of Kartika. On this day, women observe fast, and finally drinks or eat anything after sighting the moon. This year, KarwaChauth will be celebrated on October 17, Thursday.

Like Bollywood movies glorify all the festivals with immense celebrations and joy, Karwa Chauth is no behind.
The married women fasts for their beloved husbands and sing songs, apply mehendi, wear beautiful traditional dresses.

The trend of Karwa Chauth in Bollywood started from one the most romantic movie, DDLJ. Shahrukh Khan and Kajol observed fast for each other and when the moon appeared they feed each other with their own hands.
Interestingly, in Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham, they both played husband and wife and celebrated Karwa Chauth with other married couples including Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. Bole Chudiyaan song is played in the background and they all danced their hearts out.

Another love-story, which shows a couple trying to hide their relationship from the family, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam also had a beautiful song dedicated to the Karwa Chauth moon. The movie shows women of the house waiting for the moon sighting, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan enjoy their romantic moment on the terrace.

While in the movie Baghban, an elderly couple Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini who are forced to live separately with their children, celebrates the festival on phone talking to each other.
