Outstanding work in the field of Indian cinema for the year 2020 was recognized this year at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The prestigious National Awards were bestowed upon deserving winners from the Indian film fraternity, who were announced on July 22. The awards were presented by the President of India Draupadi Murmu. The National Awards are running a year behind schedule because of pandemic-related delays.
This year Actor Ajay Devgn has been yet again honored with the National Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in the film ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior based on the life of the legendary Maratha Warrior Tanhaji Malusare. The film also won the National Award for ‘Best Popular Film’ for providing wholesome entertainment in the year 2022.
The star-studded film Tanjaji features Kajol, Saif Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, and Sharad Kelkar and is Directed by Om Raut and co-produced by Ajay Devgn and Bhushan Kumar, which became one of the biggest hits of 2020.
On receiving the National Award Devgan thanked all his fans in a special Tweet saying, “Not counting the wins or the blessings, just feeling grateful for all of it. Most importantly, your love. I share this win with all of you.”
Ajay Devgn has been widely applauded for his performances with several awards and accolades including the Padmshri in 2016. He has won two National Awards for Best Actor in the year 1998 for the film ‘Zakhm’ and in the year 2002, for the film ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’.
The actor has won 7 Film Fare Awards in his film career so far. He won 3 Film Fare awards in the year 2003 Best Actor/Actress Critics Award for the film ‘The Legend Of Bhagat Singh’ and ‘Company’ and Filmfare for the Best Villain category for Deewangee. In 1992 he won the Filmfare for his sensational Debut in the film ‘ Phool Aur Kaante’.
Devgn has an interesting line-up of films in 2023. The sequel of the crime drama ‘Drishyam’ and ‘Maidaan’ is about to release in 2023. He will be seen in ‘Thank God’ along with Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh. Devgan was last seen in Runway 34 which he also directed.
