‘Neeyat’ press conference held in Mumbai, witnessed it’s stellar cast ensemble, which came together for the first time to throw some light on the murder mystery before it’s theatrical release on 7th July 2023.
The sensational murder mystery drama ‘Neeyat’ has been shot on the Scottish landscape boasting of a stellar cast including Vidya Balan who plays a Detective, while Ram Kapoor plays the deceased.The trailer at the first glance creates a lot of suspense with an interesting line up of characters played by Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Amrita Puri, Shahana Goswami, Niki Walia, Dipannita Sharma, Shashank Arora, Prajakta Koli and Danesh Razvi, who geared up to interact about their upcoming theatrical release, which left scope for a lot of speculation, as to who is the actual murderer.
Present on the occasion were also Director Anu Menon, Vikram Malhotra – Founder and CEO of Abundantia Entertainment and Manish Meghani – Director, Content Licensing, Prime Video India.Vikram Malhotra emphasises on the theatrical release of the film post pandemic, now being a high time when high-quality films need to reach the theatres too along with the OTTs, which have been releasing some of the meaty content.Throwing light on his successful partnerships he says,” After Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, Kahani and Jalsa with Vidya Balan, Neeyat happens to be the 5th in the row,which could have only been possible with our wonderful team, Director Anu Menon and Amazon Prime Video as our partners.”
Manish Meghani talking about the theatrical release of Neeyat on 7th July,which is not an OTT release on Amazon Prime as part of its co-production strategy, says, “Neeyat is our second co-production with Abundantia Entertainment after Ramsetu, Sherni, Shakuntala Devi and many shows like Breath,Breath into the Shadows, Hush Hush. It”s great teaming up again with Vidya and Anu after Shakuntala and I’m looking forward to its release in the theatres.”
Anu Menon describes how was it, to yet again collaborate with her lucky charm Vidya, said, “While creating this character Vidya was just the one in my mind, as I needed someone with her gravitas and calibre to portray it, as she takes us through a journey in this film. While, it’s always challenging to convince her to take up a role,as she doesn’t agree to do every script and so she must find the script challenging enough as an audience to take up a role that interests her.”
Vidya Balan brimming with excitement about the film, talks about how she decides to take up a role, tells, “I am a very restless, and an easily bored kind of an audience, and so before taking up a role, I decide if as an audience,I would watch this film, then comes the character and script.The most important is who’s the director and the producer, because you can only make the right film with the right team.”
Having taught Mathematics to the west in Shakuntala Devi, when asked what she teaches this time to the world, Vidya adds, humorously, “We Indians are better at everything, so eventually we will teach the art of solving a murder mystery, the Indian way this time.”
