Son of Sardaar 2 trailer launch was an interactive dialogue between the stars and the audience held in Mumbai. Present at the launch were the entire star cast including Ajay Devgn, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Mrunal Thakur, Chunky Panday, Vindu Dara Singh, Deepak Dobriyal, Ashwini Kalsekar, Kubbra Sait, Roshni Walia, Sahil, Sharat Saxena and Sahil Mehta. Also present were Director Vijay Kumar Arora and Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak.
The trailer was a light-hearted experience to watch, blending romance and comedy, starring Ajay Devgan and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles, displaying their beautiful on-screen chemistry. While Ajay Devgan plays Jassi yet again, who’s an innocent, vulnerable character who can’t even speak a lie, Mrunal plays his lady love, a Punjabi girl Rabia, who’s chirpy and energetic, while the ensemble cast creates a laughing spree that is sure to entertain the audience.
Talking about how easy or difficult was it to work with Ajay Devgan, Mrunal said,” It’s a delight to work with him and infact when you have a co-actor like him, you get to learn so much even from his experiences and stories and also about the pranks he has played, that I came to know when we ate together during the shoot.”
Mrunal Thakur, who plays a lively Punjabi girl Rabia, shared how challenging it was to perform high-energy Punjabi dance sequences, doing comedy and delivering Punjabi dialogues being a Maharashtrian, “It was quite challenging to play a Punjabi girl being a Maharashtrian, as the accent is a bit tough. It is not easy to dance to the beats of the dhol, but I was helped by everyone around me. In fact, my character Rabia has many shades as you see in the trailer. It was great fun shooting and even learnt some French in Punjabi, during our shoot. When Vijay Sir would say, Sound in his Punjabi accent, hum sab form mein aa jaate the.”
Talking about doing comedy for the first time, Mrunal highlighted the importance of timing and being present in the moment, said, “Comedy is all about give and take, since you just react to what the other person is saying. Sometimes you’re focused on your lines, but a lot of it comes down to improvisation, and so every line needs to land, and if it doesn’t, there’s no point.â€
The event became a little emotional when Ravi Kishan took the audience through his journey and how this film makes a difference to him, after coming from Bhojpuri cinema, while he paid a tribute to Mukul Dev. This film, being the late actor’s last onscreen appearance, Kishan requested the audience to watch the film as a tribute to him. Ravi Kishan and Kubra Sait shared their heartfelt moments honouring Dev’s film legacy, on and off the screen moments, while shooting Son of Sardaar 2. Kishan Said,” Mukul was very excited for the film, and wherever he is, we love him and miss him.â€
Son of Sardaar 2 is already creating a vibe on social media with loads of memes. Ajay Devgan reacts to the funny memes being made on the film, saying,” In fact, that was the idea also, as when the people find something funny and they like it, then only it gets viral. Mrunal added, saying,” Pehle to couples dance kar rahe the, abhi to singers bhi kar rahe hain.”
The event became very interactive when Ajay was asked how difficult or easy the Hook step of the song ‘Pehla tu dooja tu’ was. He and Mrunal called the media fraternity to come and try the hook step on the song, which looks easy but it isn’t!
Son of Sardaar 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 25, 2025.
