The last three decades have been a wonderful time for comedy in the indian cinema! Here is a look at our TOP TEN

 

1. Andaz Apna Apna (1994)

 

This Salman Khan and Amir Khan starrer was a hoot of the early 90s. The comedy is subtle and amazing! It is quite a cult amongst the 90s generation.

 

2. Hera Pheri (2000)

 

A movie starring three funny men of Bollywood- Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suneil Shetty, was perhaps the funniest movie of the year 2000.

 

3. Munna Bhai M. B. B. S. (2003)

 

Sunjay Dutt and Arshad Warshi broke all records of comedy in this movie. Based in the ‘chawls’ of Mumbai, Munna Bhai is a timeless comedy.

 

4. Hungama: (2003)

A less famous but a very funny comedy movie of 2003, this movie started Paresh Rawal and Akshay Khanna.

 

5.Garam Masala (2005)

 

Akshay Kumar truly proved his mettle as the funny-guy of Bollywood in this ‘masala movie’, starting opposite John Abraham.

 

6.Chup Chup Ke (2006)

 

The movie starred actors like Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Suneil Shetty and Neha Dhupia. This movie is a laugh riot of the year!

 

7. Malamal Weekly (2006)

 

This is without, a doubt, one of Paresh Rawal’s best comedy movies. The movie is a laughter marathon from the beginning to the end!

 

8. Dhamaal (2007)

 

Dhamaal created a buzz in 2007 with is comic nonsensical money trail and car chase saga! Sanjay Dutt, Javed Jaffrey, Arshad Warsi and Ritesh Deshmukh stood out in their comedy roles!

 

9.Hey Baby (2007)

 

This Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan and Riteish Deshmukh starrer was a hoot! It has all the ingredients of a perfect comedy and an added icing of cuteness of a baby

 

10. 3 Idiots (2009)

 

3 Idiots is, without a doubt, the best movie of the decade. Not only is it the funniest in terms of dialogue, script and acting, but it also carries a social message! This movie stars Amir Khan, Boman Irani, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor!
