Chhapaak Trailer: From Trauma to Triumph!

Ace actress Deepika Padukone’s new film Chhapaak’s trailer launched today and it is already giving the viewers goosebumps. The film’s story is based on real life events of a strong woman, Laxmi Agarwal. An acid attack survivor who overcame all the physical and mental pain to get justice, she is an inspiration who is working for all the other acid attack victims.

Deepika will play the role of Malti, who was attacked with acid on the streets of New Delhi in 2005. Along with her, Vikrant Massey is also playing a key role of a social activist Amol, who later becomes Malti’s partner. His role is inspired by Alok Dixit.

The 2 minutes trailer shows the painful yet inspiring journey of Malti who has to face all the legal, societal questions despite being the victim. Deepika can be seen using a lot of prosthetics & makeup to look like an acid attack victim and it is spot on. The gut wrenching screams of her when medical staff is pouring water on her burns & she looks at her distorted face in the mirror is quite haunting.

Dialogues like, “Kitna achcha hota agar Acid milta hi nahi, bikta hi nahi to phikta bhi nahi” will poke you right in your heart and will make people do a little soul searching as a society.

Chhappak is directed by Meghna Gulzar who also directed Raazi & Talvar. It is releasing on 10 January 2020.
