Celluloid’s biggest night, the 93rd Academy Awards were held on 25th April 2021, at Union Station Los Angeles, the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood, Highland Center in Hollywood and international locations via satellite. The entire show was pulled off by the producers in an unexpected way with keeping the Hollywood normalcy, glamour and vibe like before with also abiding by the covid-19 guidelines. The attendees were mask less while practising social distancing. The star-studded night was very successful with very some amazing wins.

The most esteemed award ceremony witnessed Chloe Zhao breaking records and setting history yet again. She is the first woman of color (Chinese) and only the second woman ever to win the award for best director for Nomadland. The movie won big this year, Best Picture, Best Actress for Frances McDormand and obviously the best director. The highlights of the night included the Best Actor Award to Anthony Hopkins for The Father even though the netizens were counting on Chadwick Boseman for this award it didn’t turn out in their favour. In the “In Memoriam” of the 93rd Academy Awards, actor Irrfan Khan and costume designer Bhanu Athaiya were also honoured, these legends passed away in 2020. The Oscars’2021 also paid their tribute to Ian Holm, Sean Connery Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer and Chadwick Boseman. Rishi Kapoor and Shushant Singh Rajput were mentioned in the “On Memoriam” video but were absent from the list.
