‘Oh, My God’ sequel OMG 2 is all set to release in theatres on 11 August, which has been in talks since the time its release was announced. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi in the lead roles, and is Directed by Amit Rai

Throwing light on the main theme of the film Yami Gautam clarifies,” OMG 2 is nothing about religion, it’s about Sex Education interviewed with Faith. Anything which comes with a change in thought or action will have issues and problems, but we have to see the larger picture.”

Pankaj added to this saying,“I liked the way the subject has been tackled in the film by Amit, as it deals with a generation gap, and how the thoughts evolve in the due progression of the story, which can only be experienced by watching the film.”

Giving a glimpse about her role as a lawyer Yami Gautam said,” I have seen many lawyers in the various films, but this character has many nuances and is very much different from any previous roles, I have seen or done. It is in sync with what my director Amit has envisioned for the character.”

She adds, “The role did require me to work on my diction and enunciation to get it right on how the lawyers conduct themselves in the courts. No matter how complex the character is, I make sure it should look natural as part of me.”

How was his role different from Paresh Rawal in the first part,Pankaj Tripathi says, “My role is very much  different  from Paresh Rawal since he was an Atheist (Nastik) and I’m a Believer (Astik) in the film.

Throwing light on the nuances of his character Pankaj says,” I play a devotee who doesn’t know the legal system and tries to fight a case in the court, so there are many comic moments also, that will entertain the audiences.”

Yami also threw light on how the original and the sequel are verydifferent saying, ” There is no similarity except the structure of the film, weaved with faith. What this film has tried is to give importance to having sex education at formal levels in schools, as the children need to have their basics right at a tender age.”

In contrast to part one, the sequel has a female lawyer, was it the need of the script, on this Yami further adds,” Being a female lawyer is very significant according to this script, since there is a need for female representation, for the subject in the film, where women don’t need to shy away.”

How was the experience working with Akshay Kumar as a producer, Yami says, “He is very good and loves to speak in Punjabi. He is very upfront and candid and someone who speaks his heart. When we first spoke he was very passionate about the script, that this story must be told.”

Yami concludes by saying, “Amit is a really a good director and very serious about what he wants to do. The script has been written very responsibly. It’s an entertaining film with a strong message and the audience will enjoy watching it.”
