Actor-producer John Abraham, who is coming up with a film Parmanu – The Story Of Pokhran, says that it’s entertaining but based on a true story. Parmanu – The Story Of Pokhran is based on the nuclear test conducted at Pokhran in 1998 when BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister.
Asked if this film is somewhere a tribute to the leader, John said, “I think it is an interesting film. Atal Ji was one of the greatest Prime Ministers we had, but this is film and it has to be entertaining. Neither we are political nor are we showing anything in the film which is overtly political. We have just tried to make an entertaining film.” He added, Parmanu – The Story Of Pokhran is a very entertaining film but a true story which happened in India.
How did subject came to him? “This subject had come to Prerna and Arjun (Of KriArj Entertainment). When they came to me with this subject I liked it and then we developed it in-house. We were very fortunate as the script finally shaped up really well,” said John. The 44-year-old actor said “we are very careful in selecting only good script, because audience in today’s date looks for only good content.”
Asked to comment on the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, John said, “He was a visionary, he had the great vision and if we can talk about India shining, it’s only because of him. We want to give credit to our army personals and scientists who are responsible for the super power that India is today.”
The film also features Diana Penty and Boman Irani in lead roles. (IANS)
Mumbai: (IANS) John Abraham says his next production ‘Madras Cafe’ is truly the kind of cinema that defines the work he wants to do in the film industry. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, who also helmed John`s production debut `Vicky Donor`, the movie is said to be a gritty thriller.
“This would define what I stand for in terms of cinema. I want films that I produce to have credible content and `Madras Cafe` is that film,” John tweeted Thursday.
The movie also features Nargis Fakhri. Its first look features John in a rugged look, with a revolver in his hand. Nargis also sports an intense look in the poster.
John Abraham has hit the bulls eye with his maiden production ‘Vicky Donor’. He and his director Shoojit Sircar has given a movie which every cine goer would love to watch.
‘Vicky Donor’ is based on a unique concept of sperm donation and infertility. The movie is based on typical middle income Delhi family with a jobless ‘happy go lucky’ son Vicky (Ayushmann Khurrana) as the main character. Vicky finds employment in sperm donation and his employer is Dr Chadhha (Annu Kapoor), who runs a infertility clinic in Daryganj. He claims that he is too good in the art of identifying ‘high quality seeds’ and is not afraid to say ‘Shakal Dekh ke Bande Ka Sperm Pehchaan Jaata Hun’.
Director Shoojit Sircar has brilliantly narrated the story and each and every scene in the movie is a laugh riot. Scenes in which Dr. Chaddha convinces Vicky to donate his sperm to end the modern disease of infertility are hilarious.
Story takes a turn when Vicky falls in love with Ashima Roy (Yaami Gautam). This twist helps Vicky in transforming his image from a sperm donor to a lover. Music of the movie adds zing to it. Songs Rum Whiskey, Pani Da Rang, Mar Jaiyian are peppy numbers and it adds colour to the movie.
Ayushman Khurrana, Yami Gautam and Annu Kapoor steal the show with their brilliant performances. In short ‘Vicky Donor’ worth every single penny you spend to buy the ticket.
Director Shoojit Sircar has revealed that Bollywood actor John Abraham’s sperms are very much in demand for donation. He made these comments at a promotional event in Mumbai while elaborating upon the content of his movie ‘Vicky Donor’.
Informing the press Shoojit said that ‘Vicky Donor’ was a movie about sperm donation. He claimed that it was something which had been going on in India for thousands of years but rarely discussed in public domain.
He wants to bring the issue out of the closet in his own style. ‘Vicky Donor’ is comic take on the sensitive issue of infertility and sperm donation. Take a look at the trailer of the movie which is scheduled for release in April.

The terrific on screen jodi of John and Akshay is back this Friday with ‘Desi Boyz’. The duo had got rave reviews for their comic timing in ‘Garam Masala’ earlier.
So, here they are once again but this time as Jerry and Nick. ‘Desi Boyz’ is a male centric film that also shows different shades of bromance between two thick friends. Akshay Kumar who plays the role of Jignesh a.k.a Jerry in the film works as a security personnel and John Abraham a.k.a Nick works as a banker and the two have a brilliantly sorted life. They share a great bond and absolutely live it up, until recession hits the job markets world over and both of theirs jobs run into troubled waters.
Nick who had a well paid job as a banker and gave out a responsible vibe to his long term girlfriend Radhika played by Deepika Padukone, starts to face financial crisis. On the other hand Jerry who worked as security personnel faces trouble as he is not able to fulfill his responsibilities towards his nephew Veer who his sister left behind. Now due to financial crisis, Veer gets sent to the orphanage.
Having run up the wall, both Jerry and Nick decide to do something about their situation and sign up to become male escorts. Now working as male escorts will they be able to bring Veer back home? How will Radhika react to Nicks reality? And from where will Chitrangda’s character enter the film? That’s for you to discover in the latter part of the film!
Amazing foot tapping music, burning on-screen chemistry between Akshay and Chitrangada and brilliant comic timing between John and Akki is something that makes this film a complete package.
Sanjay Dutt’s entry as the owner of the escort agency Nick and Jerry work for, is an added whammy. Sanjay’s strong performance in fact overshadows the other two actors at times in the film.
Akshay is back with a bang and John deserves an applause too, for he matches AK’s comic timing and screen presence with great perfection.
So what are you waiting for? Get yourself booked to go on a date with ‘Desi Boyz’ this very week
