Johnny Depp’s ‘Dark Shadows’ Trailer Released

The first trailer for Tim Burton’s movie “Dark Shadows” has been released by Warner Bros.  Actor Johnny Depp plays the role of Barnabas Collins, a vampire living in the 18th century.  His body was buried for about 200 years and awakened in 1972. Prominent among others in the cast are Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter , Christopher Lee and rocker Alice Cooper.

‘Dark Shadows’ revolves around  a vampire who was born in 1772 but gets a new lease of ‘life’ two centuries later. The film is based on the gothic soap opera of the 70s which inspired ghostly shows like “Passions.” “Dark Shadows” were very popular shows in the 70s and enjoyed a big fan following. Taking inspiration from its success director Burton has decided to recreate the magic with ‘Dark Shadows.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has long been a passion project for Depp, and it marks his eighth project with Burton, following Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland.

The film hits theatres on May 11.
