Movie Review : ‘Kya Super Kool Hain Hum’ (** Two Star)

(By Akshat Sharma) ‘Kya Super Kool Hain Hum’ is sequel to its second instalment of Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kool series’. In 2007 we witnessed them in ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum’ which somehow clicked with the younger audience. Ekta has repacked the ‘Kool Team’ with two stunning hotties from tinsel town and produced part 2.

Directed by Sachin Yardi this adult comedy is a story of two struggling actors. While Adi (Tusshar Kapoor) is a model for teleshopping ventures Sid (Retiesh Deshmukh) is part time DJ. What follows after that is an assault of adult jokes laced with sexual innuendoes which sometimes are funny and sometimes turn stale and juvenile.

Jokes like “Bade achhe lagte hain”, “Main macho doonga,”, “Meri maa ka naam Rosemary Marlow” are just the samples. The first half is well paced but in the second half the movie loses steam.  The story is not worth mentioning because they is no story in the movie.

Just relax and face those in your face unapologetic jokes which will  hark back to your school days when everything was ‘garden garden’. Among the actors Ritesh Deshmukh outshines everybody with his superb comic timing. Tusshar gives him good support and the two ladies just try to grab some balls (eeer eyeballs).

Songs in the movie are unremarkable. Only ‘Garden garden’ makes you hum some silly lines from the movie songs. The movie was dubbed as India’s answer to ‘American Pie’ which in itself is a big joke. ‘American Pie’ is an iconic movie and its freshness and boldness can never ever be recreated by any Indian filmwalla.

Director Sachin Yardi tries too hard to make us laugh and this extreme labour shows in many scenes. The film is more than 150 minutes long. Cine goers should give it a try this weekend because it could entertain you if you just leave your brains back home. For most of us it is difficult to do so and that’s why it is not so ‘garden garden’ proposition.
