The esteemed fashion photographer from India, Mr. Dabboo Ratnani is here with the freshly released 22nd edition of his annual celebrity calendar featuring prominent faces of the tinsel town. This calendar is released every year around the onset of summer with a launch party, but this year the launch was delayed and the party was virtual due to the ongoing pandemic scenario.
This year, Dabboo Ratnani marks his 26th year of being in this industry. He is a portrait and celebrity photographer. The world of photography was serendipity for him. He started off by assisting prominent photographers with still photography for films. Films brought him editorial work, which in turn led him to model shoots and portfolios. This is how he gradually moved to launch his own annual calendar in 1999 which later sparked its own trend of collectible celebrity calendars in India.

Over the years, Mr. Ratnani seems to have built quite a rapport with the B-Town celebrities as he recently told SpotBoye of how it’s mostly quick plans with his B-Town friends that lead to such glamorous pictures for his calendar. The calendar in question has become synonymous with his name and is his best-known work till date. He also shoots covers for magazines like Filmfare and more. He has featured as a jury in Miss India and a mentor in MTV’s India’s Next Top Model in 2006.
The Dabboo Ratnani Calendar typically has 24 frames and 12 celebrities, most of whom are recurring. In the past few years, Mr. Ratnani has been shooting with the new age celebrities of Bollywood like Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, etc. along with the stalwarts themselves like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham, etc.
This year Mr. Ratnani has picked Tara Sutaria and Vijay Deverakonda as debutants for his calendar and the other stars are Tiger Shroff, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday, Kriti Sanon, Parineeti Chopra, Vidya Balan, Sunny Leone, Vicky Kaushal who have shot for the calendar before as well.
Some photographs featuring Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal, Vidya Balan, and Sunny Leone have been released by Mr. Ratnani and have been garnering quite some attention.
The calendar doesn’t usually have an annual theme as Mr. Ratnani feels restricted with the creativity he can offer around a theme, as he recently said in an interview with The SpotBoye.
Budding celebrities often anticipate being featured in his annual project. The calendar has become a talk of the town over the years because of the varied platter of glamorous shots of various celebrities it offers as it shows a different side of the celebrities each year to their fans. And if we’re being honest, we can’t seem to get enough of this platter!
