Inspired by a real-life character, the film depicts the struggles of a sports icon bringing with it the true sportsman spirit of never giving up, along with heart-wrenching emotions, bringing tears to everyone present at the launch.

R Balki’s storytelling takes you through the roller coaster ride of a cricketer’s personal struggles and societal challenges after losing her right arm in a car accident, being a right-arm batsman. Abhishek Bachchan Plays her mentor and trainer to succeed in her dream to play for the country.

The trailer indeed boasts of powerful performances of Abhishek and Saiyami delivering moments of heartache, determination, and hope, while it embarks on a transformative journey to challenge limitations and preconceived notions related to physical disabilities.

R Baldi throws light on the inspiration behind this film and the characterization says, “In fact, in Ghoomer the cricket is at the backdrop since it’s a story of life. It talks about two people with vulnerability, who have gone through ups and downs and how both of them struggle to come up using each other.”

He adds,” The idea about Groomer came from a left-arm person who lost his right arm and was trying to do something else, not being a cricketer. Inspired by him, we wrote the script and brought the Ghoomer element into it. The film is not designed based on cricket but on the life of those two characters.”

Talking about playing a strict coach in the film and how can such coaches change someone’s life, Abhishek Bachchan replies,” I have had many such coaches since my childhood, I being into sports. What is important to understand is that although they appear strict, they inspire you and give you hope. It’s very important to have a coach or a mentor in life, who takes you to that extra mile.”

What preparations went behind the scenes to play the coach Abhishek tells,” Since  I played a left-arm spinner in the film and so I called Rohan Gavaskar to give me some tips towards the right technique, to make it look as natural as possible.”

Saiyami shares how thrilling was the experience to play her character, adapt it and then come out of it, saying,” With regards to the role I was so engrossed in it that, after the film was over, I went for a dive trip. While I was resting, I had a dream that I dived with one hand, and that’s what the film has taken out of me, as it was the most thrilling experience I ever had.”

Ghoomer will release in theatres on the 18th of August 2023. The film is directed by R. Balki known for his acclaimed works such as “Cheeni Kum,” “Paa,” and “Pad Man” and it is Produced by Hope Productions and Saraswati Entertainment.
